I’m Mary Anne and i have been knitting since my college days. I now focus on creating knitwear patterns grounded in tradition, and with an eye toward a modern aesthetic. My goal is to create designs that will be lasting, treasured pieces of your wardrobe.
I have always been fascinated by the idea that a simple string of yarn can be turned into a seemingly endless array of objects. Some functional, such as the knitwear that I design, and others true pieces of art. Whether it be knit, crochet, embroidery, weaving, knots or macramé there is an endless source of inspiration for the imagination.
With Apriori Knits I hope to inspire others with a line of patterns that reflects my aesthetic for fun and functional knits. The designs take cues from current trends, while also aspiring to create timeless pieces that will be treasured for years to come.
When not knitting you can find me puttering around in my gardens, skiing wherever the snow flies, hiking, sailing or chasing grandchildren. All cherished activities which are hopefully keeping me young!
A priori is Latin for “from what comes before.” It is an homage to all the amazing knitters and designers that have laid the path for me in my knitting journey. I hope in some small way to help continue, and pay the tradition forward to new generations of knitters.
